The roach

Despite the lack of outhaul and Cunningham we can change the shape and roach of the sail with

- just  the halyard.

The roach of our sail is created by forcing the clew a bit forward on the tube and by tensioning the leach. Combined with the through battens this makes a perfect shape. In fact, there is just a very little built in roach.

As you may observe, there is a batten just 20 cm above the boom.

If you do want to flatten the sail you simply lower the sail and this batten is forced to be straight around the tube and then you have a very flat sail.

If you want something in between you adjust it with the halyard. There is nothing more to it and this is done - with just the halyard !
